Pastor’s Library – Our Quest for Home

The Pastor’s Library is a collection of recommended Christian literature from the pastor and church leaders of Swallowfield Chapel. It is with great joy that we highlight and recommend the book Our Quest for Home, written by our long-time friends of SFC, Dr. David Corbin and Launa Corbin.

In this book, you’ll read about the places they lived, friends they met, miraculous and bizarre tales of how they landed in one house or the next and lessons learnt. There are stories of their three vivacious kids, hating one house and loving another, and how this couple made something beautiful out of every ugly situation. Over and over again, they transform the drab structure of a building into a place of warmth just right for their family and whoever else comes through their front door.

This delightful memoir of this wonderful Caribbean couple will remind you of why home matters. Readers will be immersed in a whirlpool of creative literature which is a bold celebration of God’s care in our remarkable quest for the next home.

Meet the Authors
Dr. Corbin is a servant of God with many gifts, S.H.A.P.E.d by God to preach and teach the gospel. Dr. Corbin previously served as President of the Caribbean Graduate School of Theology and for more than 22 years, he was General Secretary of the South Florida Keswick Convention. He also spent 15 plus years at Broward College as Adjunct Professor of Religion. A servant leader at heart, Dr. Corbin also pastored Fountainside Christian Fellowship in Florida for over 13 years.

Better known to us as friends of Swallowfield Chapel, Dr. Corbin is married to Launa, and they are parents to three adult children and seven grandchildren. David and Launa represent two islands of the Caribbean – Trinidad and Jamaica. They share one faith and several remarkable stories. They both pursued undergraduate studies at the Jamaica Theological Seminary and more advanced studies at Trinity International University in the United States.

Book Review by Teddy & Charlene Wan, long time Swallows:

“We recently ordered “Our Quest For Home” through Amazon, have been reading it and finding it interesting.  We think that this would be of interest to many at Swallowfield since it describes their time in Jamaica and the Lord’s provision and faithfulness over the years. Some at Swallowfield could likely identify with people and places mentioned in the book.”
